Background
My name is Adil Mir, hailing from the picturesque region of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. I’m a passionate traveller and avid trekker, always on the lookout for new adventures and meaningful connections. Education has been a cornerstone of my life, and I earned my Graduation in Arts from the University of Kashmir.
My professional journey began with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where I contributed to diverse projects from 2015 to 2019, gaining valuable experience in corporate and technology-driven environments. However, my deeper calling led me towards making a social impact. I’m always looking to connect with professionals, educators, technologists, and change-makers to continue this mission and explore opportunities that merge innovation, accessibility, and impact.
Teaching Approach
My approach to teaching is centred around practicality, personalization, and empowerment. I begin by understanding each learner’s Accessing functional vision, digital exposure, and learning pace – often using informal or structured Functional Vision Assessments to tailor the training accordingly. I use real-life scenarios to make digital literacy relatable, such as teaching file management through organizing personal documents or Excel using daily budgeting. One unique method I use while teaching Microsoft Excel is explaining the layout of cells and columns by using a Braille slate – this helps learners, especially those familiar with Braille, to visualize and understand the grid structure of rows and columns in a tactile and memorable way. I simplify complex concepts into step-by-step instructions and offer multiple ways to complete tasks, allowing learners to choose what works best for them. I integrate assistive technology and accessibility features from the beginning, encourage hands-on practice, and promote peer learning to build both confidence and independence among trainees.
