Nazima Gul
Born with Low Vision from Kokernag, Anantnag (Jammu & Kashmir)
Reading Without Seeing Workshop
Nazima Gul, born with low vision, from Kokernag, Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) faced significant challenges in accessing higher education and professional resources—barriers largely stemming from a lack of awareness about assistive technologies. Her transformative journey began with the “Reading Without Seeing” workshop organized by Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS), which introduced her to the world of accessible tools.
Motivated by this exposure, Nazima enrolled in VMS’s Computer Fundamentals Training. With her newly acquired digital skills, Nazima has not only regained her confidence but has also rekindled her academic and career aspirations.
“Today, she stands as a vocal advocate for digital inclusion, aspiring to empower other girls with visual impairments to access similar opportunities and lead independent, fulfilling lives.”
