Myths and Facts About Low Vision [AWI_107]

Course Description

This awareness program will help participants clear the misconceptions, myths, and incorrect information surrounding low vision. Many people mistakenly believe that low vision is the same as blindness, that nothing can be done to improve functional vision, or that persons with low vision cannot study, work, or live independently. Through evidence-based facts, interactive discussions, and real-life examples, participants gain a clear understanding of the realities of low vision, enabling them to challenge misinformation, promote inclusion, and spread accurate awareness within their communities.

“I am interested to open up my own shop but thinking of the challenges pulled me back. The mobile van campaign, introduced me to Talking Calculator, CDI mobile app for recognising currency and Pressure Mat so that I can identify when customer enters my shop. Now I am confident to take the first step to start my business.” - Totally Blind beneficiary, Karnataka
