Background
My name is Rajesh, and I’m from Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. I am a Senior Executive at EnAble India, where I’ve worked for five years.
I began my journey at EnAble India as an intern during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, my focus was on providing online digital literacy training for people with visual impairments. This included workshops on using Android mobile phones, Telugu typing, and various Google applications.
After the pandemic, I started traveling to different partner organizations. I’ve since conducted a variety of training and awareness workshops for both school and college students. My work has taken me to several states, including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, and Jharkhand. I’ve also led specialized awareness workshops like Reading Without Seeing (RWS) and Career Awareness Workshops (CAW) for visually impaired individuals. Additionally, I’ve managed Mobile Van Campaigns in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to reach wider audiences.
Teaching Approach
- My teaching approach focuses on creating an inclusive and effective learning environment:
- Multi-Sensory Approach: I engage multiple senses by incorporating auditory descriptions, tactile exploration, and hands-on activities, rather than relying solely on demonstrations.
- Regular Feedback: I provide clear and timely feedback, either verbally or in an accessible digital format, to help students track their progress and understand areas for improvement.
- Open Communication: I maintain open communication with students, encouraging them to ask questions and share their challenges.
- Peer Support and Collaborative Learning: I encourage group work and peer-to-peer learning, where classmates can assist each other and contribute their unique perspectives and strengths.
